Planning & Design Services

Site Analysis & Feasibility

Before breaking ground, we ensure the site is physically and legally viable for a premium sports installation.

  • Topographic Surveys: Assessing slope and drainage requirements (standard 1%–2% grade for runoff).

  • Geotechnical Assessment: Evaluating soil stability to determine the necessary sub-base and excavation depth.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigating local Melbourne Council requirements, building permits, and setback regulations for residential and public lands.

Excavation

Precision Excavation & Sub-Base Construction

The longevity of a court is determined by what lies beneath the surface. At Melbourne Sport Courts, we utilize heavy-duty earthmoving equipment and laser-guided technology to ensure a perfectly level and stable foundation.

Site Clearing & Bulk Excavation

We begin by stripping the organic layer (grass and topsoil) to reach a stable sub-grade.

  • Precision Depth: We excavate to specific depths depending on the chosen surface (usually $200\text{mm}$ to $400\text{mm}$ for residential and public courts).

  • Waste Management: Responsible removal and disposal of soil and debris, adhering to EPA Victoria guidelines for Council and Government projects.

Construction

Structural Construction & Surfacing

Once the foundation is set, our team shifts focus to the structural build. We combine civil engineering precision with high-performance sports technology to deliver courts that are built to last through decades of Melbourne’s four-seasons-in-one-day weather.

Concrete Slab & Asphalt Installation

The “playing slab” is the most critical structural element.

  • Reinforced Concrete: For residential and premium Council courts, we use SL82 or higher steel mesh reinforcement to prevent shrinkage and cracking.

  • Vapor Barriers: Installation of heavy-duty moisture membranes to prevent ground dampness from delaminating the final court acrylics.

  • Asphalt Alternatives: For large-scale Government parks, we offer high-density asphalt paving—an economical, slightly more flexible option for larger tennis and multi-sport complexes.

Hand Over

Completion & Handover

Our commitment to quality doesn’t end when the lines are dry. The handover process ensures that every residential backyard, local council park, or government facility meets our rigorous “Play-Ready” standards.

Final Quality Inspection

Before we leave the site, our project managers conduct a comprehensive walk-through:

  • Level & Slope Verification: A final “flood test” to ensure 100% efficient drainage with no birdbaths or pooling.

  • Line Marking Precision: Verification that all court markings (Basketball, Tennis, or Volleyball) are crisp, accurate, and meet regulatory dimensions.

  • Equipment Calibration: Testing hoop heights, net tensions, and gate latches for smooth operation.
